Pool Service in Brookshire, TX

Brookshire sits on I-10 and US 90 in southern Waller County, where the open Katy Prairie runs toward the Brazos River bottom. Pools here deal with full sun, wind off the open land and heavy rain on very flat ground. Lanterra Pools serves Brookshire from our Sugar Land office with weekly cleaning, storm cleanup and equipment repair, whether your yard is in the original town or a new subdivision north of the interstate.

A railroad shipping town that is growing again

Brookshire started as two plats filed in 1893, John Kellner's Town of Kellner and the Brookshire, or Drew, plat, which were combined when the city incorporated in 1946. It grew as a farm shipping point on the Missouri, Kansas and Texas railroad, sending out cotton, melons, corn and pecans, and later rice. The population went from 1,015 in 1950 to 5,066 in 2020.

Today the town has two very different kinds of backyards. Around the original town site you find established homes and lots, while new subdivisions such as Sunterra Lakes, north of I-10 and west of the Grand Parkway, and Mirabella are adding new homes. A long-running pool and a brand-new one need different things, and we plan visits around which one you have.

Sun, wind and open ground

Lots carved from prairie and farmland can have little or no shade. On an unshaded pool, summer sun burns off chlorine fast, which is where a properly kept cyanuric acid level earns its keep: stabilizer can stretch the life of chlorine in sunlight several times over. Too much of it, though, slows chlorine down, so we test it instead of adding it out of habit.

Open ground also lets the wind work on the water. A breezy July afternoon pulls the level down faster than a sheltered backyard would, and whatever blows off nearby fields ends up as a fine layer on the pool floor. Regular skimming, vacuuming and filter cleaning keep that layer from feeding algae.

Flood-prone prairie and what it means for a pool

Local officials describe the Katy Prairie as persistently flood-prone, and the Brookshire-Katy Drainage District signed an agreement in September 2026 with Harris and Waller County commissioners covering Cane Island Branch drainage, more flood-warning gauges and shared drainage standards. During Harvey in 2017, satellite images showed the Brazos over its banks where I-10 crosses the river just west of town.

A pool that catches a prairie downpour plus runoff from the yard tends to overflow, collect silt and leaves, and lose its chemistry within a day. Underneath, the Katy-series ground can hold perched water close to the surface for a while, and that water presses against the shell from outside. The weight of the pool water is what holds the shell in place, which is why emptying it is the risky part. So the job is to lower the level only as far as the cleanup needs, clear the debris, clean the filter and rebalance. Every step of that is part of storm cleanup on a Brookshire pool.

Well water and the numbers we check

The public water district that carries Brookshire's name pumps groundwater, according to its EPA listing, and Waller County wells fall under the Bluebonnet Groundwater Conservation District rather than the Fort Bend or Harris-Galveston subsidence districts. We could not find a published water quality report for that district, so a water sample from your hose is where we start: calcium hardness and alkalinity on the fill, then on the pool. That matters most if you run a salt cell, since scale builds on the plates when calcium and pH run high.

The route out from Sugar Land

Brookshire is about 24 miles from our office on a map and roughly 30 to 35 by road. The interstate run takes I-69 to the Grand Parkway, up to I-10 and west into town. The back way is FM 359 north from Richmond, through Fulshear and past Hovas Park into town. Once you are on the schedule, one technician handles your pool on the same weekday, and any repair begins with finding the actual fault so the quote matches the problem.

Local Questions

Pool service in Brookshire: FAQ

No. ZIP 77423 reaches into Fort Bend County, and communities like Jordan Ranch use a Fulshear 77423 address. Either way, you are covered: we serve the City of Brookshire and the neighboring Fulshear area and Katy alike.
Not the service: Waller County addresses get the same weekly visits and repairs as Fort Bend and Harris County ones. It does change the water background. Waller County groundwater falls under the Bluebonnet Groundwater Conservation District, so the surface water plans you may read about for Fulshear and other Fort Bend neighbors do not automatically apply here. We test your fill water rather than borrow numbers from across the county line.
Sun is the usual reason. Pools with little shade lose free chlorine quickly, especially if stabilizer is low. We check the cyanuric acid level along with chlorine and pH, then set a level that holds through a hot week without overshooting.
