Pool Service in Cinco Ranch, TX
Cinco Ranch opened in 1991 on land five oil men had bought in 1937 as a hunting preserve, and homebuilding wrapped up when Newland sold its last homes in 2020. That long build-out left 15,098 homes on 8,092 acres, with backyard pools of very different ages now facing the same three things: utility water in transition, finishes coming due and a planted canopy that drops into skimmers. Lanterra Pools works throughout its sections.
Thirty years of pools in one master plan
After American General bought out its partners, the planned community opened in 1991 with 35 homes sold and 110 more under construction. The 18-hole golf course designed by Carlton Gipson followed in 1994, and building continued section by section for nearly three decades.
Cinco Ranch Southpark, west of South Mason Road, broke ground in 1997 with homes of about 1,750 to 2,780 square feet on tree-lined streets. Cinco Forest, between the Grand Parkway and Little Prong Creek, went up in 2005 with homes reaching about 5,350 square feet. Cinco Ranch West, off Cinco Ranch Boulevard near LaCenterra, was built out by 2008. Depending on the street, a backyard pool here could be a few years old or more than 30, and the oldest have reached the stage where plaster, tile and original equipment start to show their years.
Barker Dam and August 2017
Back in 1949, the ranch owners sold 2,500 acres to the Army Corps of Engineers for Barker Reservoir, the federal flood-control basin that now holds George Bush Park. During Harvey, water pooling behind Barker Dam backed into parts of Cinco Ranch and nearby Canyon Gate, sending muddy floodwater into thousands of homes, more than two feet deep inside at least one of them. Southpark took on water too. Canyon Gate sat outside the mapped 100-year floodplain, proof that a map line is not a promise.
Floodwater that reaches a backyard leaves silt in the pool and can soak the equipment pad. Do not power anything until a technician has looked at it; once motors and controls check out, the silt comes out and the chemistry gets rebuilt. Before each hurricane season, move loose furniture away from the water and note whether your pad sits in one of the yard's low spots. Storm cleanup walks through the full restart.
Cinco MUD No. 1 and the chloramine switch
The community is divided into 19 municipal utility districts. Cinco MUD No. 1's 2025 drinking water report names the Evangeline and Jasper aquifers as its source. A notice the district posted on June 10, 2026 said its system would start receiving North Fort Bend Water Authority surface water on June 30, 2026, and that its disinfectant would change from chlorine to chloramines. We could not confirm dates for the other districts, so keep an eye on your own MUD's notices.
Fill water carrying chloramines raises the combined chlorine reading on a pool test, and a surface supply can bring calcium and alkalinity levels unlike the old wells. That 2025 report does not list hardness, so there is no published figure to lean on. Each visit gets a fresh test, and when combined chlorine climbs, a calculated breakpoint dose clears it.
Seven lakes, 91 parks and a lot of leaves
Amenities include 7 lake areas, a Beach Club, a Lake House and 91 parks, pocket parks, playgrounds and picnic areas. This was ranch and prairie land, so the trees lining older streets such as Southpark's were planted as sections filled in, and Willow Fork Park on Cinco Ranch Boulevard alone has 15 types. They make for pleasant walks and a steady supply of leaves, clippings and spring pollen for nearby pools.
Debris that settles in a filter cuts flow just as summer heat speeds algae growth. Brushing and skimming on a weekly service schedule, along with periodic filter cleaning, keeps leafy backyards ahead of it.

Weekly Pool Service
Cinco MUD No. 1 announced a June 2026 move to chloraminated surface water. Weekly testing by one familiar technician catches combined chlorine and balance shifts early.
Learn morePool Renovations
Sections went up from 1991 through 2020, so many pools here have hit the point where plaster roughens, stains set in and resurfacing comes into the conversation.
Learn morePool Tile Cleaning
Waterline tile on pools from the 1990s and 2000s has seen a lot of Texas summers and tends to carry a band of scale and body oil that routine brushing no longer lifts.
Learn morePool Filter Cleaning
Lakes, greenbelts and planted street trees push leaves and pollen into backyard pools, and a loaded filter weakens circulation right when algae season peaks.
